Cool Things to do in Jackson Hole

If you're flying an airplane to view Yellowstone, you'll be landing at the Jackson Hole Airport and seeking things to do in Jackson Hole. There is a vast variety of opportunities here in this northwestern Wyoming community within the Rocky Mountains, including winter season snowmobiling, summertime whitewater rafting and immense scenery. In fact, the neighboring mountains contribute to the name, Jackson Hole. Dropping out of the Rockies from the west, or from the north, in the time of the mountain men, into this valley resembled going down into a hole. Given that David Edward "Davey" Jackson, a trapper, worked this valley, it was called Jackson's Hole, later altered to Jackson Hole.

Mountain summits are observed from both sides of Jackson Hole, with the Grand Teton Mountain Range on the west side and the Gros Ventre Mountain Range to the east. The most ideal time to view any mountain is when the sun is shining on it, making the Discover Jackson Hole during Sunrise or Sunset tour a wonderful tip for things to do in Jackson Hole. Start times are 6 a.m. or 5 p.m., dependenting upon whether you're an early bird or a night owl. Travel is with a 4x4 vehicle. Besides great mountain peak panoramas, there's a good chance of observing bison, moose, elk, grizzly and black bear. You'll also get some hiking in while on this four-hour expedition. A trained naturalist guiding this tour lets you in on several environmental facts during your sunset or sunrise tour.
